Opening scene of my documentary

My opening scene is an establishing shot of a Close up of a lot of different art supplies and tools, setting the scene of the documentary so you instantly know what the documentary is going to be about. I have made sure the back ground is out of focus so the audience is focused on the central image giving it a professional look to the start of my documentary.

Narrative Structure

Narrative Structure in Documentaries

Story
Documentaries also have characters and a setting as well as a narrator who tells the story from the character's point of view. In documentaries there is normally a voice over narrating and telling the story.

Conflict
Conflict is the thing that stands between your characters and their goals. There are many types of conflict such as inner conflict, relationship conflict and societal conflict. Conflict always needs an opponent, for example a villain or time.

Structure
Narrative structure is an element generally described as the structural framework in which a narrative is presented to a reader, listener or viewer. The narrative text structures consist of the plot and the setting. A story has five basic elements; these components are: the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict and the resolution. These essential elements keep the story running smoothly and allow the action to develop in a logical way.

Characters
A character is a person or other being in a narrative. A character may be entirely fictional or based on a real life person. Characters help to bring the narrative to life. There are many types of characters such as dynamic or developing characters, flat or static characters, and protagonists or main characters. In documentaries, there are narration scenes where actors act out a scene that occurred in real life. This gives the audience a better understanding of the story the documentary is trying to portray.

Title for my documentary

This is a ruff idea of what my title sequence will look like. It consist of a time lapse of my Farther drawing out the title in a comic speech bubble, which is a birds eye view camera shot.

In-depth analysis of what I'm going to add to my documentary

1. music
For my preliminary task I struggled to find the right music to go with my documentary so I had no music playing in the background. I think adding music would make the documentary more interesting and intriguing to the audience.

2. Camera shots/angles
For my interview scenes my camera angel was very low and was look upwards to the interviewee. I will change this by getting a better tripod and centralising it to the interviewee. I think this would improve my documentary a lot because you are not looking up at the interviewee all the time, and people might think I chose the angle on purpose so he comes across bigger and better than every one else.

3.Editing
In stead of me saying the question on camera I will edit it out and put the question on the screen, this gives the documentary a more professional look to it.

4.Title
For my title sequence I am going to get my farther to right the title. from a birds eye view shot and will be a time laps. the same with the question that appear on screen.
